The following rough schedules for the winter and summer semester are only for your first orientation. The official academic calendar is published by the Department of Student Affairs (HSST). Your student e-mail address will be used to inform you about Faculty specific dates and deadlines.

Winter semester

Start of semester: 1 October
Start of courses: first working day of October (unless otherwise announced)
Period for choosing your area of specialisation starting the next summer semester: shortly before Christmas
End of courses: around 24 January
Start of examination period: around 25 January
End of examination period: around 15 February
Period for choosing your core elective modules for the next summer semester: around the beginning of March
End of semester: 14 March

Summer semester

Start of semester: 15 March
Start of courses: first working day after 15 March (unless otherwise announced)
Period for choosing your area of specialisation starting the next winter semester: June
End of courses: around 9 July
Start of examination period: around 10 July
End of examination period: around end of July or beginning of August
Period for choosing your core elective modules for the next winter semester: end September
End of semester: 30 September
